Every parcel in Germany can be tracked free of charge — all you need is the tracking number. You’ll find it in the shipping confirmation email, on the posting receipt or in the shop’s dispatch notification. Each carrier runs its own tracking system, which is why the same parcel can never be looked up at DHL and Hermes interchangeably: the number only works with the carrier that transports the shipment.
The statuses follow the same pattern everywhere: after posting, the parcel is scanned at each depot or parcel center, then comes “out for delivery” on the final day. Gaps of a day between two scans are completely normal, especially over weekends — parcels are only scanned at fixed points, not continuously. Only if nothing changes for more than three working days should you contact the carrier or ask the sender to open an enquiry.

?How does parcel tracking work?
Every shipment gets a unique tracking number when the label is created. Enter it on the carrier’s tracking page — or here — and you’ll see every scan from posting to delivery, free of charge.
?Can I track a parcel without a tracking number?
Generally no — the number is the key to the shipment. As a recipient, check the shop’s dispatch email; as a sender, check your receipt. Some carrier apps can also show announced parcels automatically once you register your address.
?Why is my tracking not updating?
Parcels are only scanned at fixed points such as depots and delivery vehicles, so a quiet day is normal — especially at weekends or in international transit. After more than three working days without movement, contact the carrier or the sender.
